Short Tricks to find the Squares and Cubes of Numbers above 100

Hello Readers,
One of the ardent follower of BankerNotifications, Nitish shared with us a post on  "Short Tricks to find the Squares and Cubes of Numbers above 100". So, here we are presenting to you the post by Nitish. Hope you like the post!!!

Hello my all BankNotifications friends. As all of you know that compound interest is one of the most important chapters  from which questions are always asked in PO, Clerk and also in SSC exams. So I am going to tell you some short tricks which will help you to find the answers in very less time. One more thing…once you understand the logic you will also be able to learn it and once you learn it, it become more time saving for you.

Squares of 110 to 116 –

Well, I am not going to start it from 101 but from 110 because normally the interest rates are given in
the question from 10% to 15% or 16%. So try to understand it now –

As you know (A) = P ( 1+ r/100)t
So suppose (r) = 10% and (t) = 2 years then the value of ( 1+ r/100)t
          = (1+10/100)which gives (110/100)2

Now use trick to find the square of 110 –

(110)2 = 11x 100 = 12100 (this was easy… right)

(111)2 = Add 11 to 111= 122 and now add square of 11(121) to the only last digit (digit on once place) of  122 i.e., in 2 which gives answer = 12321

(112)2 = Add 12 to 112 = 124. Add square of 12(144) to the only last digit of 124 i.e. in 4 which gives = 12544

(116)2 = Add 16 to 116 = 132. Now add square of 16(256) to the last digit of 132 i.e. in 2. Answer = 13456

So the value of (116/100)2 = 1.3456

Now if you want to find Amount then just multiply principal with 1.3456 and if it is asked only Compound Interest then just multiply the principal with 0.3456.

Hope you have cracked the trick now….if yes then it’ll be good for you to learn it!!

Cubes of 101 to 115 –
This one will help you when the TIME is given for 3 years i.e., (A) = (1+r/100)3

(101)=1030301. (Remember in cubes of 101 to 115 the answer will be always in seven digits numbers.)

You can find this answer in three small steps –
1. Multiply 3 in only last digit of 101 i.e. in 1. It gives 103

2. Multiply 03 ( from 103) in last digit of 101 i.e. in 1 again, it gives 03. Write it after the first step answer like-10303

3. Now you got 5 digits and only two digits are left. In this last step write the cube of last digit of 101 which gives 1 and add 0 before it i.e. 01 and write it after the second step answer i.e. 1030301. This is your answer.

(102) = 102 x 3 (in just last digit) =106.
             06 x 2 = 12 = 10612
             Cube of 2 = 8 i.e. 08 = 1061208 (answer)

(103)= 103 x 3 = 109
             09 x 3 = 27 = 10927
             (3)= 27 = 1092727 (answer)

(104)3  = 104 x 3 = 112
            12 x 4 = 48 = 11248
            (4)= 64 = 1124864 (answer)

(105) = 105 x 3 = 115
             15 x 5 = 75 = 11575
             (5)= 125 = 1157625 ( add 1 of 125 to just last digit of 11575)

(106)3  = 106 x 3 = 118
            18 x 6 = 108. Now add 1 of 108 to the last digit of 118, it gives 11908
            (6)3 = 216. Add 2 of 216 to the last digit of 11908, it gives 1191016(answer)

(109)3  = 109 x 3 = 127
            27 x 9 = 243. Add 2 of 243 to last digit of 127 = 12943
            (9)= 729. Add 7 of 729 to the last digit of 12943 = 1295029(answer)

(111)3  = 111 x 3 = 133
             33 x 11 = 363. Add 3 from 363 in last digit of 133 = 13663
            (11)= 1331.

As you already got 5 digits so you need only 2 digits but you have 4 digits in your hand i.e. 1331 so now add 13 from 1331 to the last two digits of 13663 and it gives 1367631(answer).

(115)3 = 115 x 3 = 145
             45 x 15 = 675. Add 6 from 675 to the last digit of 145 = 15175
             (15)= 3375. Add 33 from 3375 to the last two digit of 15175 = 1520875 (answer)

So the value of (115/100)3 = 1.520875.

Follow the same rule to find the Amount and Compound Interest as I told earlier. Multiply 1.520875 with principal to find Amount and multiply 0.520875 to find only Interest.

That’s all friends. I know cube tricks are looking tough but believe me once you catch it, it become easy to learn. These tricks will also help you in questions of Simplification.

THANK YOU!!!

Maths - Short Cut Trick for Squaring of Numbers

Hello Readers,
Yesterday, we posted a post on "Squaring of the Numbers" contributed by TempleRun aka VT. Today, we are sharing our take on "Shortcut Trick of Squaring of the Numbers". Hope you like the post!!!

Shortcut 1:

Note: This trick works only with those numbers whose unit digit is 5 i.e 15,25,35,45,55 etc

Example :

35 x 35 = ?

Solution:

This trick works as follows: square first digit of the number: 5 x 5 = 25

Now, multiply second digit of one of the number with (second digit + 1) of the other: 3 x (3 + 1) = 12 So the answer comes : 1225(joining second and first multiplication)

Example :
45 x 45 = ?

Solution:
Square first digit of the number: 5 x 5 = 25
Now, multiply second digit of one of the number with (second digit + 1) of the other: 4 x (4 + 1) = 20 So the answer comes : 2025(joining second and first multiplication)

Shortcut 2 :

Note - Squaring Number For numbers whose unit digit is not 5

Example :
13 x 13 = ?

Solution:
This trick works as follows:

To simplify the problem Just add the unit digit number(3 in this case) to the number(13): 13 + 3 = 16 Now, Subtract the unit digit number(3 in this case) to the number(13 in this case): 13 – 3 = 10 Now, multiply the numbers and add unit digit’s square to them: 16 x 13 + 32 = 169 is the answer!

Example :
23 x 23 = ?

Solution:

So , the square of 23 would be 520 + 9 =529

Example :
89 x 89 = ?

Solution:

Square of 89 would be = 7921

Example :
98 x 98 = ?

Solution:

Square of 98 would be 9600 + 04 = 9604

For the first couple of times this trick would look tricky , but after trying 10-15 random squares of two digit numbers you will find this trick more accurate and correct than traditional multiply.

One of our ardent readers, BhaskarHoney also contributed the short cut trick for Squaring of the number from 1- 10000. We are also sharing it with you. Hope you find it useful!!

Practise as much as you can, so that you  can get a handle of it!!

ALL THE BEST!!

Maths - Short Cut Tricks for Square

Hello Readers,
One of the ardent follower and most helpful person of shared this trick for the Short Cut Trick  for Squares of the number. We are sharing this with everybody, so that everybody can make use of it!!

Square of a number

From 1 to 30 (this is damn easy) You need to remember. Based on this I am going to explain square of a number from 31 to 100.

31 to 100 is divided into 3 parts
  • 31 to 50
  • 51 to 80
  • 81 to 100

From 31 to 50:

Find the square of 38.

First Step :
122 =50-12 (haan bhai haan fir se 50 )

Second Step :
Last 2 Digit : 122 = 144 =44 (1 Carry)
First 2 Digit : 25-12+1 =14
25 hamesha ki tarah Constant ..You need to add
12 comes from (50-12)
1 upar wala carry

Final answer =1444 (First 2 Digit Last 2 Digit)
382=1444

Find the Square of 47.

First Step :

47 =50-03

Second Step :
Last 2 Digit : 09 ( kaise ? 3 ka Sqaure ) Carry ? Zero
First 2 Digit : 25 -03+0 =22
25 constant …yaad rakho
03 comes from 50-03
Carry to zero hi aya tha

So final Answer is 2209 (First 2 Digit Last 2 Digit)
472= 2209

Rapid Fire Round !

1)Find the Square of 33.
33 =50-17
Last 2 Digit =289 =89 ( 2 carry)
First 2 Digit =25-17+2 =10
Final Answer =1089

2) Find the square of 42.
42 =50-08
Last 2 Digit =64 ( Carry Zero)
First 2 Digit =25-8+0 =17
Final Answer =1764

3) Find the Square of 45.
Last 2 Digit =25
First 2 Digit =4*(4+1) =20
Final Answer =2025

Let’s see 51 to 80 :

Find the Square of 62

First Step - 50+12 ( Yes, every time You have to think like this 50 + )

{If the number is 72 We will write 50+22}

Second Step - _ _ _ _  --- 4 Digit number is the answer ( From 32 to 99 Every Number Square has 4 Digits)

Last 2 Digit :   122 =144 = 44 ( 1 will be carry )

First 2 Digit : 25+12+1 =38

25 is constant number for every number 51-80 You have to add this!!

12 comes from (50+12)

So our final result is 3844 (See First 2 Digit and Last 2 Digit above)
62= 3844

Thoda to jarur samjh me aaya hoga ?  Solve another question

Find the Square of 77

50 +27 ( Every time You have to think like this)

_ _ _ _  --- First 2 Digit Last 2 Digit

Last 2 Digit : 272  =729 = 29 ( 7 is carry )

First 2 Digit : 25+27+ 7 =59

25 is constant as I said before You have to add every time this number!!

27 comes from (50+27)

How to add 25+27+7?

(Thought process will go like this 25+(25+2)+7=(25+25+9) =50+9=59)

So Final Answer is .. 5929

Hmm ..You can do it fast …just You need practice …Ghar me Practice karoge to Exam me without putting pen on the Paper You can do it.

Remember : The more you sweat in the peace ..the less you bleed

Lets Solve few examples in Simple way

1)Find the Square of 53 ?

Last 2 Digit =09 ( No Carry here )

First 2 Digit =25+3+0 =28

2)Find the Square of 66 ?

Last 2 Digit =256=56 ( 2 Carry )

First 2 Digit =25+16+2 =43

3)Find the Square of 75 ?

Don’t use above method

First 2 Digit =7(7+1) =56

Now, let's see for 81 to 100 :

Find the square of 88

First Step :
88=100 -12 ( Yes 100-12 Only , not 50+38 or 80+8 )
{If the number is 92 then we have to think like 100-8}

Second Step :
_ _ _ _ 4 Digit number is the answer.As I said before Square of any
 number b/w 32 and 99 has 4 digits.

Last 2 Digit :
122 = 144 = 44 (1 carry )

First 2 Digit : 88 - 12 + 1 =77
88 is the given number jiska hum square find kar rhe he
12 comes from 100-12
1 is as usual carry ( 100-12 doesn’t mean that we have to minus 1 from
the number..here also we add )

So our final Answer is 7744 (First 2 Digit Last 2 Digit)
88= 7744
(Btw this number is Special,No other number square has this form XXYY)

Let’s do another sum
Find the Square of 92 .

First Step :

92 =100-8 ( Yes 100-8 only ,don’t confuse with 50+ )

Second Step :
Last 2 Digit : 82 = 64 ( It’s only the last 2 Digit …No carry)

First 2 Digit : 92-8+0 =84

92 is given number
8 is from 100-8
O is carry ( Carry to Anda hi aaya tha )

Final Answer is 8464 ( First 2 Digit Last 2 Digit )
922 =8464

Rapid Fire Round !

1)Find the square of 96.
96=100-4
Last 2 Digit =16 (How come 16 ? 4 ka Square ) Carry Zero
First 2 Digit =96-4+0 =92
Final Answer =9216

2) Find the Square of 81.
81 =100-19
Last 2 Digit = 192= 361 =61 (Carry 3)
First 2 Digit =81-19+3 =65
Final Answer =6561

3) Find the Square of 85.
Last 2 Digit =25
First 2 Digit =8*(8+1) =72

Final Answer =7225

If You find this method easy ..Plz reply me back !

B) 53

C) 51

D) 52

E) None of these

Answer & Explanations

1. C) 9/20
Here, S = {1, 2, 3, 4, ...., 19, 20}.
Let E = event of getting a multiple of 3 or 5 = {3, 6 , 9, 12, 15, 18, 5, 10, 20}.
P(E) =n(E)/n(S)=9/20.

2.  D) 1/12
Total number of elementary events =10C5
Number of ways of selecting no defective bulbs i.e., 5 non-defective bulbs out of 7 is7C5.
So,required probability =7C/10C5 = 1/12.

3.  A) 5/12
Clearly, n(S) = (6 x 6) = 36.
Let E = Event that the sum is a prime number.
Then E= { (1, 1), (1, 2), (1, 4), (1, 6), (2, 1), (2, 3), (2, 5), (3, 2), (3, 4), (4, 1), (4,3),(5, 2), (5, 6), (6, 1), (6, 5) }
n(E) = 15.
P(E) =n(E)/n(S)=15/36=5/12

4.  C) 2/5
Probability that only one of them is selected = (prob. that brother is selected) × (prob. that sister is not selected)+ (Prob. that brother is not selected) × (Prob. that sister is selected
=(1/5 x 2/3) + (4/3 x 1/3) = 2/5

5. A) 9/13
There are 13 spade and 3 more jack
Probability of getting spade or a jack:
=13+352=1652=413
So probability of getting neither spade nor a jack:
=1-413 = 9/13

6.   B
7.   A
8    B
9.   E
10. D
